WHEN: Wed., Oct. 26th, 5PM
WHERE: Institute for Visual Studies, Roop Hall, 208

Please join us on October 26 at 5:00pm in Roop 208 for Dr. Stephen Nachmanovitch’s lecture “Free Play in the Arts and Beyond: and What Exactly is Freedom.” Our guest performs and teaches internationally as an improvisational violinist at the intersections of music, dance, theater, and multimedia arts. In this talk, he will discuss the tension between play and the limits of power. He notes that there are self-imposed limits of a game or an artistic form, or the forms we pull from the air as we respond to the world around us. The imperfections of the medium in which we work and play, and our own imperfections, are the richest source of new creative material. All are welcome.
