OPT Session

Fri, 7 Feb 2014 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Location: oIP Conference Room (Suite 22)

Optional Practical Training is available for F-1 students who would like to legally work here in the U.S. in a field related to their major.  This session will give you details on the application process needed to obtain work authorization or the EAD-Employment Authorization Document.

OPT applications can be filed with USCIS 90 days prior to program completion or within the 60 day grace period following program completion.  Our office strongly recommends applying before completing your program because applications can take 60 to 90 days to be approved by USCIS.

A new SEVIS I-20 with our recommendation will be issued when all paperwork is submitted to the ISSS Office.  A copy of all SEVIS I-20’s, a copy of your passport, I-94, visa and the completed, original I-765 form are required in applying for your EAD.
