A Day of Caring

Wed, 9 May 2018 7:45 AM - 5:00 PM

A Day for the Community,

A Day of Caring

WHO: The United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham

WHEN: Wednesday, May 9th

WHAT: Day of Caring is an organized volunteer day during which community members, local organizations, and business teams volunteer at local nonprofit organizations. Volunteer projects typically include physical repairs, client interaction, landscaping, or office work.

Day of Caring provides a unique opportunity to learn more about the mission of our local nonprofits, and for nonprofit staff to learn more about the people supporting them. Whether you serve solo or with a team of 25, your work will enrich our community!

WHERE: The day begins with a high-energy breakfast and special program at 7:45 a.m. in James Madison University's Memorial Hall. Awards will be presented to the people and organizations that help make United Way great and then volunteer teams will be sent off to their projects with a LIVE UNITED cheer.

Take a look at the projects on the United Way's Get Connected site and see if there's a fit for you or your team. There is also a poverty simulation available for folks to participate in that day as well. More information for the poverty simulation is here.

~We hope you'll join us as we celebrate United Way at work in our community!~
