October 27: Richmond Alumni Blood Drive:

Your RVA Dukes Alumni Chapter is partnering with Virginia Blood Services to sponsor an "I Still Bleed Purple" Blood Drive. This regional blood drive is part of the JMU Alumni Association's Homecoming CAA Blood Drive that will be taking place on campus on October 30th. All Richmond Area Donor Centers will be participating in our blood drive, so please schedule a donor appointment at the center most convenient for you! (You can still donate without an appointment, but this ensures that the location will have the appropriate amount of staff and support). Use the JMU Donor Code to give our RVA Dukes Alumni Chapter credit for your donation!

October 28: Decade Days:

Time to hop into the way-back machine as the JMU Alumni Association celebrates the past 50 years of Madison graduates. We'll be rolling out old yearbook photos and music hits from the 1960s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s on the JMU Homecoming Facebook page. And our friends in dining services will be serving up some tasty treats for each decade.

October 28: Residence Hall Banner Contest:

Love your residence hall? The Residence Hall Banner Contest is a great way to show your JMU spirit. Blank banners and contest instructions may be picked up at the Leeolou Alumni Center the week of Oct. 7-11. Designs are due back at the alumni center Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. Banners will hang on the face of Godwin Hall during Homecoming Week and voting will take place on the JMU Homecoming Facebook page with prizes going to the winning hall.

October 28: Mr. and Ms. Madison:

Mr. and Mrs. Madison, presented by the Student Government Association, is held every year to select two outstanding senior who embody the Madison Spirit. Voting takes place in the weeks leading up to Homecoming Week online.

October 29: Door Decorating Contest:

Faculty and staff, show off your JMU spirit by decorating your office door for Homecoming 2013! You have the option to compete as a department or as an individual. There will be sponsored prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, as well as honorable mention. For additional information, and to register for the competition by Monday, October 14 check out the contest details below.

October 30: Homecoming CAA Blood Drive:

Each CAA institution, including JMU, works with its local blood service center and designates one day during the fall term to conduct a campus-wide blood drive. Student groups, faculty, staff, and alumni are all encouraged to participate. The eleventh annual CAA Blood Challenge was an overwhelming success in 2012, with 4,381 donors and 4,613 productive units of blood collected from nine CAA campuses. Over the past 10 years the CAA Blood Challenge has helped to save 110,157 lives!

JMU's CAA Blood Drive will be held Oct. 30 in Transitions from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., in partnership with Virginia Blood Services.

The JMU Alumni Association also will host satellite locations through regional chapters in Washington D.C. and Richmond. Specific time and location of those events are TBD.

October 31: Nightmare at UREC:

Haunted House Line

Every Halloween, UREC transforms from a recreation center to a spooky, haunted building on campus. 

Join UREC during Homecoming Week for UREC's 4th Annual Halloween celebration: Nightmare at UREC on Thursday, October 31, 2012 from 9:30pm-1am!

Your JACard is your admission ticket. Guests are $5 on FLEX. Children under the age of 16 are not permitted.

Be led through the Haunted House by a "Henchman" through a labyrinth of CREATURES OF THE NIGHT! Avoid ZOMBIES!

Additional GHASTLY ENTERTAINMENT includes a DJ and dance, costume and dancing contests, free food and inflatable games.

Homecoming kicks off with Purple Out, but the fun really goes to another level at Pep Rally, which ushers in a weekend of purple and gold on campus. Join the JMU Alumni Association, Student Ambassadors, JMU Athletics and members of the JMU community as we welcome alumni back to campus and give the Dukes a boost before their Homecoming football game against CAA rival Villanova.

An annual event to kick off Homecoming weekend. Registration includes green fees, golf cart, breakfast, lunch, and an awards presentation. Awards go to the top three teams. Highlights will include awards for closest to the pin, longest drive, and a raffle of JMU Alumni items. Raffle tickets and mulligans will be available for purchase during check-in.

November 2: Homecoming Dukes' 5k Run/Walk:

5k Runners

JMU students, faculty/staff, alumni and community members, start Homecoming off with UREC's annual run/jog/walk through JMU's beautiful campus!

This year's Homecoming Dukes' 5k Run/Walk will take place at 8am on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at UREC.

Strollers and pets on leashes allowed. All registered participants will receive a race shirt!

November 2: Homecoming HQ:

A JMU tailgate is a perfect place to spend a fall Saturday on campus. We'll have food trucks available to purchase food, plus plenty of giveaway items and a DJ. Mix and mingle with JMU celebrities or meet up with your reunion group. Guided campus tours will be leaving from HQ at 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

The Homecoming HQ tent is located on Godwin Field, right in front of Bridgeforth Stadium. The location is open to the public and no admission is required.

The JMU Bookstore will be selling items from the bookstore during the tailgate so be sure to stop by and get some purple for your wardrobe.

November 2: John C. Wells Planetarium Show:

11 a.m.
Miller Hall

The planetarium offers an extra showing of “Comets and Discovery” for JMU’s Homecoming Weekend, with seating beginning 10 minutes before show time on a first-come, first-seated basis.

The planetarium offers shows for the public, with seating beginning 10 minutes before show time on a first-come, first-seated basis. Each show is followed by a “star talk” that provides visitors with updates about the night sky, including constellations, planets and any comets that might be visible.

November 2: Dinner & Dancing (featuring the Skip Castro Band):

Join your fellow alumni for a postgame party of dinner and dancing in the Festival Grand Ballroom, featuring the Skip Castro Band. Tickets can be purchased via the event registration page (link below). Dinner is included and there will be a cash bar on site. Ticket prices will go up on October 1, so register early!
