National Hazing Prevention Week is an opportunity for campuses, schools, communities, organizations and individuals to promote the prevention of hazing. HazingPrevention.Org is the organizer of NHPW and JMU's offices of Fraternity & Sorority Life, Athletics, and Substance Abuse Prevention will be on the Commons Sept. 23-27, distributing information and t-shirts.
By bringing attention to the problem of hazing, JMU wants to educate students, coaches, administrators, parents, faculty and staff, athletic and recreational sports directors, band leaders, residence hall leadership, community members, local and campus police, and others to not just recognize hazing, but to learn ways they can prevent it from occurring in the first place.
