JMU, Blue Ridge Community College, Bridgewater College,
and Eastern Mennonite University will unite and lead Walk for Hope to
raise awareness about depression and suicide, 9-noon, March 23 at JMU’s Godwin
Field.
Students from each college, along with their school
president, will walk from separate locations near JMU Campus to Godwin Field
for music, speakers, refreshments, and activities. Open to the public, all are
encouraged to attend and help offer hope to all people affected by depression
and suicide.
The event is sponsored by the Austin Frazier Memorial
Fund, Bridgewater College, JMU, EMU, and RMH Behavioral Health. Register
online to walk with the JMU team March 23 from the Commons to Godwin Field.
The JMU Counseling
and Student Development Center (CSDC) provides the highest quality
individual and group counseling to JMU students struggling with problems common
to a college population, and it serves as an assessment and referral source for
students with more serious and chronic psychological difficulties. The CSDC
also engages in active outreach efforts that focus on the prevention of
problems and that maximize the potential of all students to benefit from the
academic environment and experience.
What are the top
10 concerns of JMU students? The CSDC staff can help.
