About the poet: David Mills is a poet, plawright, and book reviewer. He is the recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in poetry, the Chicago State University Langston Hughes Poetry Prize, and the BRIO award. The Julliard School of Drama commissioned and produced a play he wrote on Dr. Martin Luther King. His book reviews hae been published in such periodicals as the Washington Post, Village Voice, anf Rolling Stone. He is the author of two books of poetry. His poetry has been described as ranging “from meditative to satirical to gently outrageous.”

In addition to reading his own poetry, David Mills will be performing some works of Langston Hughes.
