The Department of Computer Science at James Madison University is offering two one-week bootcamps!

Camp 1

2016 GenCyber Cyber Defense Bootcamp for High School Technology Teachers
June 20-24, 2016 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

Camp 2

2016 GenCyber Cyber Defense Bootcamp for Prospective CyberPatriot Coaches
July 11-15, 2016 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. 

Both camps are held at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia

The Department of Computer Science at James Madison University is offering two one-week bootcamps to cover the basics of Cyber Defense for high school technology teachers who are current or prospective coaches for the GenCyber CyberPatriot program. Participants will learn:

  • The basics of setting up and administering both Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Hardening techniques for both Windows and Linux hosts
  • What tools attackers commonly use to perform reconnaissance and gather useful information in preparation for an attack
  • How and why attackers perform password cracking, network sniffing, and other attacks
  • How defenders utilize intrusion detection systems, integrity checkers, network monitors, and standard utilities on both Windows and Linux systems that aid in incident response

All participants selected for the bootcamp will receive a $1,000 stipend to cover their travel, food, and lodging costs.
