Pre-registration has closed for May Symposium 2018. Please still join us. Walk-ins are welcome at most workshops and roundtables. Due to robust pre-registration we will not be able to accept walk-ins for the plenary lunch.

Upon arriving, check in at the Festival registration desk upon arriving to make a name tag and get a program. 

May Symposium offers a full day of workshops and roundtables on teaching, scholarship, career planning, and academic life. May Symposium will be open to faculty at JMU, local institutions, and our CAA partner colleges and universities.

Conference Breakfast 8:15-9:15 AM

Santos Award Celebration and Networking Breakfast, Festival Ballroom A

Join colleagues in celebration of the 2017-18 academic year and of this year's Santos Innovation Award winner, Daisy Breneman. After a short award ceremony, participants will have time to network with colleagues over breakfast before heading to the first morning session.

Session One: Workshops 9:30-10:45 AM
Session Two: Roundtables 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
Lunch Plenary 12:00-1:45 PM

Faculty as Change Agents: Inhabiting the Intersections of Equity, Full Participation, and Publicly Engaged Scholarship (PES),  Festival Ballroom A 

Keynote speaker: Tim Eatman, Dean of the Honors Living-Learning Community (HLLC) and Associate Professor of Urban Education in the College of Arts & Sciences, Rutgers University.

Session Three: Extended Workshops 2:00 - 4:00 PM
