Guidance For Faculty about Student Suicide Prevention (Roundtable)

Location:  Rose Library room 5211.

Join JMU experts on suicide and death who will briefly share their recent research findings regarding freshmen at James Madison University. Some tips will be given on how to handle students that either have had or are currently having suicidal ideation. Additionally, there will be a general discussion with facilitators and participants about the issue of suicidal ideation among students at James Madison University.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these program outcomes:

  • Learning tips on how to respond to suicidal thoughts expressed by a student, and
  • Discussing ways to help students who may experience suicidal ideation succeed in their academics.

Faculty participants will make progress appreciating the diverse forms, purposes, and communication modes of scholarship in higher education.
