JMU faculty who are looking for a mentor outside their academic unit are invited to join a new peer mentoring network. The network is open to faculty on all career paths (such as part-time, renewable-term, tenure track) and at all career stages (such as junior, mid-career, senior faculty). Intended as a supplement to departmental mentoring, the peer mentoring network offers opportunities for faculty to extend their professional network at JMU, deepen their understanding of JMU as an academic community, find out how their colleagues address common career and life challenges, and gain new perspectives on their work and role at JMU. The network is open to different kinds of mentoring pairs, inviting junior faculty who want a more senior mentor, but also faculty interested in a peer mentor who is at the same career stage.

Participants in the peer mentoring network are expected to attend one of two kick-off roundtables:

  • Thursday, September 14 at SSC
  • Friday, September 15 at Rose

Thereafter, participants are expected to meet with their peer mentor at least once a month at a time and location of their choice.

  • Andreas Broscheid, Center for Faculty Innovation, and Political Science
  • Mike Deaton, Integrated Science & Technology, and Center for Faculty Innovation
