The Practice of Faculty Mentoring at JMU (Roundtable)

Location: Rose 5211; participants are invited to "brown-bag" their lunch to the event.

This roundtable discussion will focus on the various mentoring practices at JMU, the ways that departments establish and maintain mentoring programs, mid-career mentoring, and ways of responding to the needs for mentorship.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these program outcomes:

  • Understanding the range of faculty mentoring needs, and
  • Identifying ways of establishing formal and informal faculty mentoring practices.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these career planning outcomes: 

  • Appreciating the place and purpose of comprehensive career planning in academic careers,
  • Identifying and implementing effective strategies for career advancement, and
  • Developing and fostering productive mentoring and networking relationships.
