Engaged Scholarship Networking Lunch

Thu, 2 Mar 2017 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM

Location: Student Success Center room 1075; lunch will be provided starting at 12.

With engagement at the heart of JMU’s strategic plan and vision, there are clearly lots of folks on campus doing engagement work and engaged scholarship. This networking opportunity invites faculty members, administrators, and graduate students to enjoy a meal and share experiences and ideas regarding their scholarly engagement work. Participants will discuss how they are currently integrating engagement interests into their scholarship agendas.  In addition, they will discuss strategies for pursing this sort of scholarship.  New network possibilities for engaged scholars may emerge. Initially, participants will share  two-minute summaries of their engaged scholarship projects and interests.  After this segment, they will share informally until the end of the luncheon.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these program outcomes:

  • Learning about different engaged scholarship projects being conducted on campus, and
  • Forming new relationships with colleagues interested in engaged scholarship.

Faculty participants will make progress toward these scholarship outcomes:

  • Appreciating the diverse forms, purposes, and communication modes of scholarship in higher education, and
  • Forming collaborative scholarly projects with students, faculty, & staff at JMU and other institutions.

Facilitator: Jen Almjeld
