In response to the work of the Madison Future Commission, JMU’s vision now prominently emphasizes engagement, vowing “to be the national model for the engaged university: engaged with ideas and the world.” In this roundtable, participants will discuss ways that faculty members can become more engaged with ideas and the world through their service activities. Participants will also discuss strategies for integrating service into other areas of faculty life. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from other faculty members who are active in community engagement and generate and share their own ideas about what the engaged faculty member looks like.

Lori L. Britt, assistant professor in Communication Studies and Director of the Institute for Constructive Advocacy and Dialogue.

Michele Kielty is a Professor of Counseling at JMU.
