March 24 ( 12:00 AM ) - Scholarly Writing Community: Finish Your Writing Project
Dates/Times: Mondays 2/10, 2/17, 2/24, 3/3 from 12:30-3:30pm; Lunch on Monday 3/24 12:30-2pmLocation: Rose Library 3311Faculty Community
In this scholarly writers' group, individual scholarly productivity will be fostered through participation in a writing community that encourages and supports the cultivation and completion of writing projects. The hallmarks of this facilitated scholarship community include:developing an individual scholarly writer’s profile; developing a writing project plan; guided peer review of drafts; time for writing; editing deadlines; and celebration of success. Whether working on a manuscript, book project, or other writing project, this experience will help scholars move toward project completion.
Participants need to commit to and be present for five meetings either in person or via Google hangout. This group will be limited to 8 faculty members total. Faculty working on both qualitative and quantitative scholarly projects are welcome to apply.
This faculty community is designed to help faculty make progress towards the following outcomes:
- Improve self-awareness of writing process and habits;
- Hone peer and self-editing skills; and
- Complete or cnearly complete a writing project for submission.
March 28 ( 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM ) - Friday Writers' Lockdown
Location: Rose Library 3311Lockdown
Friday Writers' Lockdowns encourage faculty writers to dive into projects with concentrated time and effort. Held on Fridays, these mini-lockdowns will help you create a regular writing pattern during the academic year. Peace of mind provided -- faculty writers provide the words. Coffee is available for purchase at Starbucks.
