In partnership with the CFI, the JMU International Study Center invites JMU faculty and staff to attend a roundtable discussion focused on international students and academic English. The purpose of this roundtable is to discuss current topics associated with working with international students in academic settings, including stages of language acquisition, errors vs. mistakes, student and teacher expectations, and learning strategies. Participants will gain insights from current literature and practice, as well as bring with them their experiences to share with each other.

This Roundtable is designed for faculty to make progress towards the following outcomes:

• Discuss topics associated with international student learning; and
• Gain insights from current literature and practice.
