“The Museum Experience as an Interactive and Interpretive Event”
by Carole Henry, Ed.D.

Carole Henry is a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor of Art and Chair of Art Education at the Lamar Dodd School of Art, The University of Georgia in Athens, GA. The National Art Education Association published her book, The Museum Experience: The Discovery of Meaning in 2010. Resulting from her interest in the field of art and museum education professor Henry has published articles addressing the art museum as an educational site in Studies in Art Education, The Journal of Aesthetic Education, and Visual Arts Research.
Professor Henry’s lecture will address the changing roll of museums and their audiences. She will examine ways that museums are making meaningful experiences for viewers that encourage both established and new visitors to return.
