Summer Children's Art Workshop

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Join us for our fifth, summer-themed workshop in our series of seasonal workshops for children's art instruction at the EJC Arboretum.
This two-day (July 24 and 26) workshop will focus on summer-season woodland plants and wildflowers found within the arboretum, plant identification and the basic science of natural dyeing. Children will learn how summer native woodland plants and wildflowers found in Virginia can be used to create beautiful, natural eco-print art.

Children will create collage bundles from leaves, sticks, flowers, cotton fabric and twine, and then dye their bundles to create a fabric eco-print. Workshop participants will learn and join with the ages-old traditions of dyeing cloth and come home with a beautiful piece of textile art.

Space is limited to 10 children, ages 7-12. Be sure to register for your spot soon on the EJC Arboretum website.
The $25 workshop fee includes all material necessary to participate. Parents are welcome to stay with their children during the workshop.
