Africana Studies Student Workshop

Professors will engage students on several topics related to study abroad and professional development opportunities. Students will learn about study abroad trips offered to Africa, what credits they would receive, advantages of the minor, potential future employment opportunities, and personal success stories/experiences from faculty.

There will be two panels speaking on that day:

Panel I: Study Abroad Programs

  • Dr. Bayo Ogundipe
  • Dr. Jennifer Coffman
  • Dr. David Owusu-Ansah
  • Dr. Lamont King
  • Dr. Aderonke Adesanya

Panel II: Professional Development

  • Dr. Andrew Witmer: Dos and Don’ts of academic presentations.
  • Dr. Mollie Godfrey: Future employment opportunities.
  • Dr. Case Watkins: Professional development.
  • Dr. Besi Muhonja: Conference, internship (as the Africana Studies internship coordinator), independent studies and Model African Union.
  • Dr. Aderonke Adesanya: Information concerning the minor.
