JMuse Cafe: Shaping Spaces

Wed, 26 Mar 2014 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

6:30-8:30 p.m.
Harrisonburg City Council Chambers, 409 S. Main St.

The JMuse Café is partnering with the Institute for Visual Studies and local civic groups and campus organizations to continue this year’s program on “Space, Place, and Community,” the highly successful series of community conversations and events, which started last fall. While previous events focused on Harrisonburg’s past, the spring events will offer a thoughtful public dialogue about how we can create successful public spaces and places that build community. These discussions will help us to learn from the past as we shape our future.

“Shaping Spaces”
explores the question “How can we create successful public spaces?” Panelists are Melissa Fisher, former chief operating officer, Highline Park, New York City; Cecil Gilkerson, former director, Harrisonburg Department of Parks and Recreation, Charles King, vice president of administration and finance, JMU, and Henry Way, Harrisonburg Planning Commission member and a JMU professor.
