Children's Nature Camp

Tue, 25 Mar 2014 4:00 PM - Thu, 27 Mar 2014 6:00 PM

March 25-27

4-6 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday
Frances Plecker Education Center, Edith J. Carrier Arboretum

Lenna Frances Keefer, artist and facilitator, leads the spring-themed workshop in an ongoing series of seasonal workshops for children’s art instruction. The workshop allows children ages 7 to 12 to produce their own botanical journals they will treasure for their lifetime. The sessions focus on spring seasonal woodland wildflowers found within the arboretum, teaching plant identification, interdisciplinary historical plant lore, Native American plant culture and basic science skills alongside botanical drawing technique.

Space is limited to 10 children each session time. Parents are welcome to stay with their children during workshop sessions.

To register, check http://www.jmu.edu/arboretum/. Cost is $35 per student and includes sketch journal and pencil.
