Second JMU Undergraduate Conference on Asian Studies

Fri, 14 Feb 2014 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Highlands Room, Festival Conference and Student Center

The conference provides a platform for students to examine both contemporary and historical issues in East and South Asia. Through their interdisciplinary research, students have gained a better understanding of how this highly complex region with profound cultural traditions struggled to survive and created new paths for themselves in the last century.

The themes covered by the conference include global colonial connections, wartime experiences, postwar recovery, contemporary societies and Asian culture in the West. Morning and afternoon refreshments will be served.
