"Air Play" Public Radio Program

Sun, 20 Oct 2013 7:00 PM

7 p.m.
WEMC 91.7 FM

JMU faculty musicians will be featured in concert recordings at the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts. Pianists Eric Ruple and Paulo Steinberg perform a two-piano version of Igor Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring." This is the first known live performance of "Rite of Spring" in any form in the Shenandoah Valley, and was given as a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the composition's premiere. Ruple also performs a Nocturne by Frederic Chopin on the program. Oboe Professor Michele Kirkdorffer and piano Professor Lori Piitz team up for a Sonata by Canadian composer Srul Irving Glick.

The broadcasts come in advance of recitals at the Forbes Center by Kirkdorffer and Piitz on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and by Ruple on Thursday, Oct. 24.

The broadcast may also be heard at the same time on the Internet at http://www.wmra.org.
