"Line of Sight: Views from The Age of Surveillance" by
Phil Nesmith of Richmond. The new photographic works were taken during a
two-month period on the vast desert landscapes of the remote border areas of
southern Arizona that are today under a surprising level of surveillance.
Nesmith used Civil War era photographic processes, a 19th century wooden camera
and a portable darkroom to capture and process images of the rugged landscape,
which was on the path of the great American West survey expeditions of the
1980s, now dotted with modern surveillance equipment and operations.
