Dr. S.V. Srinivas, professor of Indian culture and society at
Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., presents “In the Name of God and
Gandhi: A Short History of Indian Cinema.” As an expert on Indian film stars
and fan clubs as cultural performance, he is teaching about India through the
medium of Indian films and literature. Srinivas is also the author of “Megastar:
Chiranjeevi and Telugu Cinema after N.T. Rama Rao,” which was published by
Oxford University Press in 2009; Sponsored by the Mahatma Gandhi Center for
Global Nonviolence and School of Media Arts and Design. Parking will be
available in Lots D3 and C12, across from the Festival Conference and Student
Center; free.
