Program Dates and Fees

The dates and fees listed below reflect a preliminary calendar for the 2014-2015 academic year for the European Union Policy Studies graduate program and are included for indicative purposes only. All dates and fees are subject to change without advance notice.

Program Dates

Fall 2014

  • Students arrive: August 26, 2014

  • Classes: September 1, 2014 - December 12, 2014

  • Fall break: October 13, 2014 - October 17, 2014

Spring 2015

  • Classes: January 7, 2015 - April 18, 2015

  • Spring break: February 23, 2015 - February 27, 2015

Summer 2015

  • Classes, internships, research proects: April 27, 2015 - June 18, 2015

  • Graduation ceremony: June 19, 2015

Fall 2015

  • Students arrive: September 1, 2015

  • Classes: September 7, 2015 - December 18, 2015

  • Fall break: October 19, 2015 - October 23, 2015

Spring 2016

  • Classes: January 11, 2016 - April 22, 2016

  • Spring break: February 29, 2016 - March 4, 2016

Summer 2016

  • Classes, internships, research proects: May 2, 2016 - June 23 2016

  • Graduation ceremony: June 23, 2016 

Tuition and Fees

The total program cost for the 2014-2015 academic year is $34,000 for Virginia residents and $35,000 for students from outside of Virginia. The total program cost includes:

  • Tuition and fees
  • Housing
  • On-site and US-based support services
  • Health insurance for the program's ten months
  • Fees for the permesso di soggiorno (required for residency in Italy; processed by the on-site staff in Florence)
  • Fees for visa processing
  • Academic study tours
  • Orientation, including intensive Italian language training
  • JMU M.A. degree

Other costs (including meals, airfares, books, costs of a passport, and personal expenses) are not included in the tuition and fees.

Program applicants are encourage to apply for a program assistantship worth $10,000 over the course of the program. EUPS students are also eligible to apply for financial aid; JMU's Office of Financial Aid can assist with specific questions.
