Education:
B.A. Roberts Wesleyan College, 1980; M.A. Lehigh University, 1985; Ph.D. Lehigh University, 1989

Bio/Interests/Publications:
Lived and worked in Eastern Europe for 5 years (1997-2000 in Macedonia, 2000-2002 in Slovakia); has published literary translations (Macedonian to English), including the translating/editing of contemporary Macedonian short story collection CHANGE OF THE SYSTEM.

Has also published on the Coen brothers, Larry Brown, Mark Twain, Baseball Fiction, as well as a couple of original short stories.

Alternating with wife Lucy Bednar, writes (since February, 2003) a regular book review column for the Daily News Record of Harrisonburg, VA.

Has fondness for local acoustic musicians; the films of the Martin Scorsese, Sam Peckinpah, W.C. Fields, the Coen Brothers; blues/jazz/bluegrass music
