ENG 493: Creative Nonfiction

Dr. Mark Facknitz 3 credits

Creative Nonfiction divides between consideration of various nonfiction forms and student writing.  In the first half of the semester we read and analyze works but authors such as Michel de Montaigne, Sarah Vowell, Annie Dillard, and Simone Weil, seeking to understand the recent prosperity of the form and how students might enlarge their creative skills. In the second half of the semester we workshop student efforts. Portfolio includes many exercises from first half of semester and a full-scale essay from the second half.
