ENG 484: Poetic Craft and Creativity

          From sonnets to slam, this course offered in the fall of 2012 will focus on the theory, history and practice of poetic forms. Students will study and apprentice themselves to a diverse variety of poetic forms, from different cultural traditions and times. They will also focus on a particular form of their choosing to become more proficient as writers of poetry using form as a primary poetic craft. The style of the course will be a workshop format, with students bringing their original poems to class each week, using formal as well as informal constraints.
