Emeriti Association Officers


 

OFFICERS

The executive board is composed of seven members: president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, program chair, activities chair, and special events chair. The past president is invited to all executive board meetings by virtue of his\her position. The Board meets at the beginning of the academic year to discuss the plans for the upcoming year and again in April to review the past year and plan for the next year.

Officers are elected at the April meeting to serve a two year term.

From the President's Desk...

 

Fall 2010

This coming year will mark the first decade of our Emeriti Association and I, along with Vice President Violet Allain, Treasurer Joe Hollis, and Secretary Phil Riley are excited and ready to continue the fun, fellowship and service that defines our association.  Mary Lou Wylie heads up our interest groups consisting of a Book Club, Breakfast Group, Lunch Group, Play-Reading Group, and Wine Tasting.  We are always open for suggestions of new interest groups for our members.  

As incoming President, I thank President Nancy O’Hare for her four years of outstanding leadership and inspiration.  Under her leadership the association has grown in membership and in a myriad ways to serve our members and the University.  One of my goals will be to continue encouraging JMU Emeriti Faculty to join and become active in our association.  In addition, I hope to continue developing programs that interest our members. 

The JMU Emeriti Association is an opportunity for each of us to continue a significant and meaningful relationship with the University that we served for many years.  It is also a vehicle that makes it possible for us to stay in touch and involved with friends and colleagues. 

I am looking forward to my tenure as your president.  Do not hesitate to contact me with your ideas and suggestions.  And, don’t be a stranger to Emeriti Association events.
