Annual Giving and The Madison Fund

Everyone has causes close to their hearts – and we hope that preserving a high quality, affordable education at JMU is close to yours. Please consider adding James Madison University to the list of charities that you support each year - and thank you if you already have.  Your gifts directly support the Madison students and faculty who are making a difference in the world.

Annual donations from alumni, parents, employees, students and friends are the backbone of giving at the university. Donations ranging from $1 to $25,000 per year enhance JMU's student-centric envrionment. By making yearly contributions, you help provide a critical and consistent stream of support for James Madison University.

What is the Madison Fund?

When you make an annual gift to JMU, you may direct your donation to any program that matters most to you. We hope that you will consider designating all or a portion of your gift to the Madison Fund, which gives the university maximum flexibility to address the greatest needs and opportunities across campus.

Each year, annual donations to the Madison Fund are combined and delegated to the university’s most critical priorities. Similar to your own budget, the immediate needs of the university vary as circumstances change, and the Madison Fund helps allow JMU to be adaptable and capture opportunities as they arise. This means that the Madison Fund can support nearly every area of the unversity - such as providing student scholarships, faculty research support, program enhancements, classroom and lab equipment, and more.

An art contest open to all majors! Win $100!

Help us design a postcard and win a $100 gift certificate to the JMU Bookstore (good for electronics, JMU gear, books, and more)!

The postcard will include a detachable magnet and will be given as a thank you gift to JMU alumni who give to support James Madison University students, faculty, programs, and mission.

Your design can be in any medium, and should visually express “what the Madison Experience means to you.” Click here for a template and design specifications.

Submit your artwork to haln@jmu.edu or bring it to 220 University Blvd., room 3206 to have it photographed (your original will be returned). You should also include your name, year, and major, as well as the artwork’s title, medium, and a brief artist’s explanation.
