Corporate and Foundation Giving
(CFG) works to generate financial support for James Madison
University priorities by promoting mutually beneficial partnerships
with corporations, foundations and other philanthropic
organizations. Partner organizations provide the University
financial and programmatic assistance for student and faculty
research, curriculum development initiatives, financial aid,
student life and community outreach programs. These same partner organizations benefit from
this relationship by recruiting our graduates to join their work
forces. The collaboration between
foundations and JMU enriches the university and brings to life the
goals and objectives of the philanthropic foundation. Foundations and Corporations are valued partners
in assisting the University to accomplish its mission of "preparing students to be educated and
enlightened, meaningful citizens who will lead productive
lives."
To create effective partnerships with key companies and
foundations, the CFG staff work alongside schools, academic centers
and research units across the campus.
The CFG office oversees and coordinates activities with
University-level corporations and foundations and identifies
sources of corporate or foundation support. CFG provides research
assistance and resources as well as strategic guidance. We also
provide support for proposal writing and assistance with
stewardship reports. The Corporate and Foundation Relations office works
closely with the University's Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) (www.jmu.edu/sponsprog/) in identifying potential funders and in maximizing the
effectiveness of programs and research projects brought to JMU via
restricted funds.
