Office of Development
James Madison University is currently seeking philanthropic support for a wide range of academic and athletic purposes and is in the early stages of an intensified period of private fund-raising. Priorities include:
Capital Projects:
- New and renovated facilities for athletics and the performing arts
- Improved buildings and athletic fields for student recreational programs
- A new laboratory building for the Departments of Chemistry and Physics
Endowment and Program Support:
- Faculty Chairs
- Professorships
- Teaching excellence
- Student academic and careercounseling
- Community service learning
- Summer research internships
- International programs
- Scholarship support
Our current fund-raising effort is placing particular emphasis on growing the University's privately funded endowment to $100 million by 2013. This need is becoming increasingly important as more demands are placed on the public treasury and fewer state resources are made available to support higher education.
