Welcome to the home of the Madison Debate Society. We are a student organization affiliated with the JMU debate team and are concerned with raising both the quantity and quality of public discussion, debate and deliberation on campus, in Harrisonburg, throughout the Shenandoah Valley and beyond!

ACADEMIC RIGOR AT JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY

The second public debate of the Fall 2011 semester will focus on academic rigor at James Madison University, Tuesday November 1, 2011 in Wilson Auditorium at 6:30pm. This debate is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost.

Dr. Pete Bsumek and Dr. Brian Kaylor, both in the School of Communication Studies, will each team up with one student-debater to debate the resolution Resolved: It is the responsibility of the faculty to promote academic rigor. The Provost, Dr. A. Jerry Benson, will moderate this exciting and important debate.
