Nondegree Seeking Student Admissions

Enrollment Procedures

Complete and submit the Non-degree Seeking Student Application Form, including information about residency, in one of the following ways:

  • Preferred: Apply online at http://www.applyweb.com/apply/jmucess/index.html.
    (You will pay the $15 application fee online with a credit or debit card, or by electronic check. *Please note that payment by electronic check requires a 6 day holding period before your application will be received by the College of Graduate and Outreach Programs.)

  • Contact the College of Graduate and Outreach Programs to request the Non-degree Seeking Student Application Form.
    (You will pay the $15 application fee in person or by mail with a check, a money order, or cash.)

To ensure your information has been placed in the student information system, which must be done before you can register, all appropriate forms should be received by the College of Graduate and Outreach Programs 10 days before the time you wish to register.

Registration Procedures

  • Before you can register for classes, you must set up your user-id and password on the JMU Accounts Web site.

  • For instructions on how to register, complete the tutorial at JMU's E-Campus.

  • Register for classes on JMU's E-Campus.

International Non-Degree Students

Students from foreign countries who are attending JMU for one semester, or in certain cases a full academic year, under a program sponsored by the university and a foreign institution of higher education are classified as International non-degree students. These students will be accorded all rights and privileges and will be expected to meet the same responsibilities as regular JMU students. These students will be permitted to take over 11 semester hours with the approval of the international student advisor.
