6-12 English

The 6-12 English Academy will explore innovative methods for working with language, literacy and literature in English middle and secondary classrooms.  By engaging in collaborative learning activities, working with creative movement, and examining diverse literacy activities, you will develop methods that will help you learn methods for planning instruction for your students.

Gena Southall

Academy Chair

 Gena Southall, Assistant Professor of English Education at Longwood University, had her first experience with the Content Teaching Academy in 2009.  She has taught middle and high school and is currently coordinating the undergraduate and graduate Secondary English Licensure program at Longwood University.  Her research interests include teacher preparation, cooperative learning, and grammar instruction.
