K-5 MATH/SCIENCE

K-5 MATH/SCIENCE ACADEMY is back this year in a new format allowing participants to focus on the content areas of Mathematics & Science. Many sessions will include technology applications and assessment strategies and there will be integration of mathematics and science into all content areas. Next year's academy will focus on Language Arts and Social Studies. In addition to improving content knowledge, the goal of the elementary academy is to offer participants novel, constructivist approaches to learning and teaching that help teachers meet and extend the VA Standards of Learning through meaningful and engaging learning opportunities for all children. Nationally known speakers include Rachel McAnallen, Dan Mulligan and John Strebe. Additional workshop presenters in the areas of mathematics and science include Lou Ann Lovin, Susan Barnes, Sue Hutchison, and Cindy Klevickis from James Madison University as well as innovative teachers from across the state.

This academy is limited to 70 participants
