The Edith J. Carrier Arboretum

that is perfect for your outdoor
events, whether they are
picnics, guided tours of the
garden, lectures, or other
special events.
Reservations can be made to schedule
guided tours. Our on-site
catering service can be used to
provide meals for your
conference guests, if you choose
to hold meetings in this area.

The Festival
Amphitheatre
|

The amphitheater is great venue for hosting outside events.
This open area with
stadium style seating is conducive
for speakers and concerts. Electrical and portable sound
systems are available.
The amphitheater is located behind the Festival Patio.

The Commons

The Commons, located in the center of the JMU campus
between Warren Hall and
Gibbons Dining Hall, serves
as an ideal location for a variety of outdoor
events.
Carnivals, exhibit booths, concerts, receptions, etc. are
some types of
events that could take place at this location.

Fields
|
 |
|
Godwin Field, Hanson Field, and Hillside Field are three
open areas of land that
are conducive to a wide range of
outdoor events and activities. Groups enjoy using the
fields for sporting activities, team building exercises,
outdoor learning experiences, and even as a camping
ground, as shown in the picture to the left.

The Festival Patio and associated lawn is a unique venue
that can be
reserved for a variety of outdoor functions.
The Warren Hall Patio provides conference guests with an
outdoor space that is
flexible in set-up for any type of event.
Portable audio visual equipment is available for both event
spaces to make your
event memorable.

The Quad

Located in the heart of the original James Madison
University campus, the Quad
is the main lawn area where
many outdoor events occur. The lawn of the quad serves
as a prime area for conference groups to hold outside
meetings, picnics,
games, and much more.

University Farm
|
 |
|
The University Farm is located about 10 miles east of the
JMU campus and is
ideal setting for meetings, picnics, and
other social events. The farm features an 80 person lighted,
covered picnic table area (electrical outlets), barbecue
pits,
horseshoe pits, volleyball standards, and restrooms.
Transportation can be arranged to and from this venue
through reserving office.
