Teleconferencing & Videoconferencing

Teleconferencing services can be accessed from any meeting room on-campus, as long as there is an active phone line that the polycom phone can be plugged into.  The charge for this service is $55 for the phone activation fee in addition to the room fee.

We have one room in the Festival Conference & Student Center that can be used for videoconferencing, which is Conference Room 4.  Click on the following link for the location of the Festival: Campus Map. The capacity for this room, along with the videoconferencing is 16. Using the term ‘videoconferencing’ indicates that the two parties communicate interactively with ability to see and talk to each other.  There is a $50 charge for the VTel system, and the rest of the cost depends on the nature of the call.  Incoming calls are $150/hour, domestic outgoing calls are $200/hour, and international outgoing calls are $150/hour plus long distance charges.

Satellite video feed is an alternative to the videoconferencing, and this can occur anywhere on campus that has cable and TV/projection capability, for a charge of $35 to receive the signal, in addition to the room fee.  A signal is received via satellite and is broadcasted over the JMU cable system.  People watching the presentation can see either a live or recorded presentation, but the presentation can not be seen by the host. Audio interaction does not usually occur, but can take place via telephone.
