Student E-mail Project

James Madison University has partnered with Microsoft to provide students with an improved e-mail system and enhanced online communication and collaboration services. With your new e-mail account, you can free up space on your hard drive, hold group meetings without leaving your couch, remember to call your mom, and discover many new ways to make your life easier: set up mobile reminders, share calendars, send meeting invites and a lot more. Yes, a lot more! 

E-mail

• Keep your e-mail address e-ID@dukes.jmu.edu now and after you graduate
• Store more e-mail messages with increased 10GB of storage
• Send up to 20MB e-mail attachments
• Track messages with read receipts and ability to thread messages
• Keep a personal, academic or student involvement calendar (record appointments, schedule meetings, etc.)
• Synchronize contacts and calendars with various mobile devices
• Share calendars and contacts
• Prevent spam and protect your computer with anti-spam and virus protection
• Plus you will be able to keep this account for life

Collaboration

• Share project work with 5GB password-protected online storage for 1,000+ documents
• Access 25GB of storage space on SkyDrive from any location with a web connection
• Instant Messaging features allowing group discussions
• Microsoft Office Live Workspace is your online place to save, access, and share documents and files
• Students can receive SMS alerts (new e-mail, calendar events, etc.) on mobile phones
• Create blogs and personal web pages
• General info alerts – breaking news, weather info
