  12. Click Finish and your printer should now be functional (please make sure you can successfully print to the printer which was just added)

Additional Information

In general, printer defaults are set to lower printing costs and select environmentally responsible options. For example, if duplexing is available on a printer, it is enabled. In most cases, color printers are set to print in black and white by default. If a department wishes the defaults to be changed for the entire department, or if a feature is not configured correctly (e.g. duplex printing, incorrect feeder trays, etc.), complete a Setup and Installation Request. Complete the form as if you are requesting a new printer installation and place the specifics of your change request in the comments field.

To change these defaults for an individual computer, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start and then Devices and Printers
  2. Right-click on the printer's icon and click Printer properties
  3. Click the Preferences button and change the defaults as necessary
  4. Click Apply / OK / OK  to save your changes
