Microsoft Office

JMU has a Campus Agreement contract with Microsoft Corporation to provide Microsoft Office (new licenses and upgrades) for use on JMU-owned computers. In addition, our Campus Agreement permits faculty and staff to install Microsoft Office on a personally-owned computer through Microsoft’s "Work at Home" licensing program.

To have Microsoft Office installed on your JMU-owned computer
Contact the Computing HelpDesk at 568-3555, or email helpdesk@jmu.edu to request the installation of Microsoft Office on your JMU-owned computer.

To obtain a copy of Microsoft Office to install on your personally-owned computer
There are two options available for obtaining Office for installation on your personally-owned computer:

  1. Work at Home license
Work at Home licensing is only available to JMU faculty and staff. If you elect to take advantage of Work at Home licensing, you will be required to sign a document indicating you agree that Office will only be used by you, and only for JMU-related work. If JMU’s Agreement with Microsoft expires, or your employment at JMU ends, you are required to remove the Office software from your personal computer. Faculty and staff can purchase Work at Home media from the JMU Bookstore for approximately $5-$6.

  2. Full license
You may purchase a fully-licensed copy of Microsoft Office from the JMU Bookstore. The fully-licensed copies do not have the Work at Home restrictions and sell for approximately $90.

Microsoft Office versions available:

  • Office 2003 for Windows
  • Office 2007 for Windows
  • Office 2004 for Macintosh
