Last September, JMU entered into a "Campus Agreement" contract with Microsoft Corporation to provide Microsoft Windows upgrades, and Microsoft Office (new licenses and upgrades) for use on JMU-owned computers.
JMU is covering the cost of this contract centrally so individual departments will no longer have to purchase Microsoft Office or Windows Upgrades with departmental funds.
This is an opportune time for the university to enter into the contract with the recent release of new versions of Office and Windows. When we are prepared to begin supporting and distributing Windows Vista and Office 2007, our Campus Agreement will allow for more coordinated upgrades without straining departmental budgets.
