Have You Heard about the PIQ, Yet?

Project Initiation Questionnaire Now Available as a Web Form

Information Technology recently implemented the ability to submit the Project Initiation Questionnaire (PIQ) online. The PIQ, formerly available only as a Word document, is used by departments to request IT involvement when technology solutions are being considered to address university needs.  Features of the new system include:

  • Delegated creation capability (a PIQ can be created on behalf of someone other than the requester)
  • Ability for PIQ submitters to obtain status information online via a web browser
  • Automatic notifications when PIQs have been assigned to an IT Sponsor and when a PIQ has been authorized for additional analysis via the Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) system in Remedy
  • Automatic notifications as the CBA analysis is initiated and a Request Manager is assigned.  Additional notifications are sent when the CBA is authorized for implementation.
  • Additional information on the PIQ as well as access to the PIQ can be obtained via the JMU Computing Standards page. On reaching the web site, click on the Project Management Standards link to access PIQ related policy and process information.  Click on the  Submit Project Initiation Questionnaire (PIQ) link to access the new web-based PIQ submission form.
