Sending a Message

tlooIn Outlook, you compose and send messages using the Message window. This window contains a menu bar, toolbars, and navigation controls that can be used in composing, formatting, and sending an e-mail message. The To... and Cc... buttons can be used to quickly access names and e-mail addresses of contacts added to your Address Book. You can either type a recipient’s name or address or use these buttons to quickly select a name for the To... or Cc... text boxes. These text boxes, in addition to the Subject text box, are used for addressing messages.

If the current folder is not a mail folder, you can open the New Message window by selecting the File menu, pointing to the New command, and then selecting the Mail Message command.

 

Depending upon your setup, messages may be temporarily sent to the Outbox folder while they are waiting to be delivered to your mail server.

Exercise: Sending a Message  

  1. Click the group on the Outlook Bar containing the mail folder you want to open.

  2. Click the desired mail folder icon.

  3. Click the New Mail Message button.

  4. Type the name or address of the primary recipient.

  5. Select the Cc text box.

  6. Type the name or address of the carbon copy recipient.

  7. Select the Subject text box.

  8. Type the subject of the message.

  9. Select the message text box.

  10. Type the body of the message.

  11. Select the Send button .
