Purging Deleted Messages from an IMAP Folder

Purging messages from an IMAP folder is much like the process of expuging mail in Mulberry.  When purging messages  from an IMAP folder (any IMAP folder), it is permanently deleted from the IMAP server.

The process of purging IMAP messages from the server bypasses the local Deleted Items folder all together therefore there are no copies of IMAP messages left in this folder.

Exercise: How to Purge Deleted Messages from an IMAP Folder

  1. When you are ready to permanently delete (expunge was the Mulberry term) your messages from the server, click the IMAP folder containing the messages on the Outlook Bar or folder list to display its contents.

  2. Select Edit>Purge Deleted Messages and then select Yes, from the purge messages dialog box.
