Formatting WordArt Objects

The WordArt toolbar provides tools used to format WordArt objects. You can edit WordArt text by changing its font, font size, and attributes; modify the WordArt style; alter the color, size, or position of a WordArt object; change the shape of a WordArt object; rotate a WordArt object; adjust the text height and alignment; and modify the spacing between characters.

You can edit WordArt objects using the following tools found on the WordArt toolbar.(If necessary, right-click a WordArt object and select the Show WordArt Toolbar command to display the WordArt toolbar.)

If you would like to complete these steps in an actual Office file, please click on the link and move between the Office file and Web windows until you are satisfied you have mastered the skill. (If a dialog box appears while you are trying to open the exercise, click Open It.)

Practice the Skill
  1. Open EQUIPMT1.DOC by clicking the link above. Switch to Print Layout view. Click the Drawing button on the Standard toolbar to display the Drawing toolbar.

  2. Click the Winter Preview WordArt object to select it.
    The WordArt object is selected and the WordArt toolbar appears.

  3. Click the WordArt Shape button on the WordArt toolbar.
    A menu appears showing the various WordArt shapes..

  4. Click Triangle Down, (first row, fourth column).
    The shape of the WordArt object is modified accordingly.

  5. Select the WordArt Character Spacing button and select the Loose option.
    The spacing of the WordArt text is changed accordingly.
