Closing an Office File
When you have finished working on an Office file, you can close it to remove it from the application window.
If you close a file that has not been saved and changes were made to it, the Office application prompts you to save it. You can choose to save the changes made to the file, or you can close the file without saving the changes.

Read through the steps:If you would like to complete these steps in an actual Office file, create a new Office file and then proceed through the steps. (Follow this link for instructions on creating a new Office file.)
Practice the Skill
- If necessary, open a new Word document and enter some text.
- Click File on the menu bar.
The File menu appears. - Select the Close command.
The document closes and the application window remains open.
NOTE: You can also close an open document by clicking the Close Window
button
on the menu bar.
