Outlook 2007 Configuration:

This article is intended for the first time user of Outlook 2007. For those who are setting up additional accounts go to our IMAP Client Configurations page.
  1. Start Outlook
  2. Select Yes and Next
  3. Check Manually configure server settings or additional server types

  4. select manual config box
  5. Choose Internet Email




  6. Enter User Information:
    Your Name: John Doe
    email address: joedx@jmu.edu
    Server Information:
    Account Type: IMAP
    Incoming Server: imap.jmu.edu
    Outgoing mail server: smtp.jmu.edu
    Login Information:
    Username: joedx
    Password: **************
    Check Remember Password
  7. Click more settings
  8. Enter Mail account name and reply email address
  9. Click Outgoing server tab
  10. Select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
  11. Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server
  12. Port Settings
     
  13. Select advanced tab (IMAP port should be 993 with SSL and SMTP server should be 587 and use TLS)
  14. Select OK
  15. Verify Setting are correct
  16. Select Next
  17. Finish

  18. Select outlook as default email client

  19. Select No on RSS feeds box
