Retrieving Deleted Messages in Microsoft Outlook

NOTE: This self-help page will only provide assistance if using Microsoft Outlook.
Some messages may be retrievable once deleted through a deleted messages folder. The following directions show how to gain access to this folder.

  • Go to the Tools menu and choose IMAP Folders...





  • Click on the Query tab and Outlook will begin to populate a list of folders





  • Search through the list and find the folder deletedmessages.dept.mailbox where dept may be
    your e-id if the message was in a personal folder and mailbox is the name of the folder the
    original message was deleted from
  • Click on this folder and then click on Subscribe, Apply and then Ok





  • A new folder will appear in Outlook that will contain available deleted messages





  • Right click and choose to Undelete the desired messages





  • To complete the process drag and drop the messages to the desired folder
